San Diego International Airport

"This is a really beautiful airport. Very kind employees and security. I felt safe the whole time and my flights were always on time. They were very efficient and the airport has some shops for last minute souvenirs and lots of restaurant options. Loved it! I saw the coolest Star Wars plane and there was a really cute park right across the street as you exit the airport. Very nice!"

"If you’re flying into San Diego and manage to snag a window seat on the A side, congratulations - you just bought yourself a scenic landing into an urban, city-center, Top Gun, first-person adrenaline experience. SAN is weirdly wonderful. It’s tiny for a big city: just one (very busy) runway, around 50 gates, and two terminals. You walk in, blink twice, and you’re already through security and staring at your gate like, "Wait, what? That’s it?" But when you leave the terminal, the ride-share chaos and the mild existential dread of merging onto local roads hit you hard. It’s like the airport was too easy, so the universe throws in a dash of post-landing drama to keep your travel story balanced. Clean, efficient, a little beige, and yes - the carpets could use a refresh, unless retro airport flooring is your thing. Still, the place is shockingly pleasant, with short walks, fast lines, and bathrooms that don’t feel like dungeon side quests. San Diego International is the rare airport that feels like it’s on your side - until you hit the exit. But hey, that’s travel. One hand gives, the other waves you into a five-lane merge with no signal."

"San Diego is a nice airport, small, and it's starting to outgrow it's very limited real estate footprints. Despite the expansion, with additional parking and terminals, it's still very cramped and very overcrowded with not enough washroom capacity, very limited shopping, and generally a very tight fit for the number of people that are there during the frequent rush hours. On the outside it has great international access including uk, netherlands, Japan and others , which make it a great alternative to lax. Overall it's a nice airport, but I think they need to build a second airport in land with rail service to accommodate the city as it grows."
